Uniform and Rank Structure

As a Uniformed youth organization and being linked to the RAF, we have rules and regulations that are slightly stricter than the average youth club. So once a cadet is enrolled they will be issued with an ATC uniform and expected to behave appropriately and maintain their uniform it to a high standard. Having very close links with the Royal Air Force, means we have to maintain a high standard of Discipline.

The word “discipline” conjures up all sorts of things. Discipline, along with Drill, is a major part of the ATC. We must make it clear that Drill is NOT used as a punishment. All cadets are taught in a suitable way, and we help anyone that is having difficulty.

In the ATC we have a rank structure very similar to the RAF. There are 4 cadet ranks that can be achieved by an individual. Promotion is appointed by the Commanding officer of the squadron, this is excluding Cadet Warrant Officer which is apappointed by the Wing Commander of South & West Yorkshire Wing. There are also verious staff Comminssioned and none Commissioned ranks.
