Air Cadet Plays Rugby for Yorkshire

Cadet Amy Norton from Castleford Air Cadets was recently selected to play for the Yorkshire Rugby League under 16’s Girls team. Amy, who has been a member of the air cadets for two and half years went through an arduous selection process fighting off competition from many other players from all over the county to win a place on the team. She represented Yorkshire in two rugby games against North West, one game being at Featherstone Lions Millpond Stadium and the second being at Rose Bridge ARLFC Wigan. Amy has been playing rugby since she was six and this is the second time she has made it into the Yorkshire team. She has also played various sports representing Castleford Air Cadets at Squadron and Wing level.

Flight Lieutenant Jamie Williamson, Amy’s commanding officer commented “It’s fantastic one of my Cadets has been given the opportunity to play for a regional team, we encourage our cadets to play sport, but this is a real achievement. We wish her the best of luck!”
