Yorkshire Air Museum Parade and Plane pull
3rd September
On Sunday 3rd September a team of cadets from 2388 attended a memorial parade at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington. Cadets paraded in front of hundreds of veterans in conjunction with other military units. The cadets marched down to the Canadian Memorial Hang where a church service took place. The sqn standard was carried into the service by Castleford sqn's own Sgt Greenwood. Sermons were given by service Chaplin's as well as bible reading from by the lord mayor and by Flt Sgt Greenwood of 2388 sqn. After the church service cadets parade again with the lowering of the RAF ensign by Sgt Bulmer also of 2388 sqn.
After the parade, the team of the cdt's and staff pulled a 20-tonne Buccaneer aircraft to the cheers of a large crowd. The team pulled the aircraft approximately 100 yards and could have kept going if there had been enough room.
The day was enjoyable but cdts also learned about the sacrifices of the service men and women during times of war.
