Message from the Commanding Officer of 2388 Squadron Air Training Corps

Welcome to our innovative website which supports and chronicles the fast moving developments and activities that are taking place at 2388 (Castleford) Squadron of The Air Training Corps (ATC). The squadron has moved forward a great deal during the last year since I took command and we are a very busy unit.

My staff and senior cadet NCOs are committed to ensuring that the cadets get the opportunity to take part in the full range of ATC activities including flying, gliding, shooting, adventure training, aeronautics training, visits to RAF stations, camps at UK and overseas RAF stations, drill, radio communication, first aid, teambuilding and leadership training. As well as sports from football, netball, hockey, rugby, cross country, athletics and swimming which are played at a wing and region level by members of the squadron. We also have cadets who have earned their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and their B’TEC diploma aviation studies through the ATC.

I am extremely proud of my team and in this era while we only see the negative side of youth and young people, you will see by browsing this site that young people can be determined, committed, enthusiastic, smart and take on tasks in an extremely professional manner, both for themselves and for their community.

For those of you who are considering joining us either as a cadet aged between 13 & 17 or as an adult volunteer over 20, then please take a look at what we get up to as the site speaks for itself and consider if you are ready to take up the challenge!
